Måndag är fiskbulledag

World premiere of “Måndag är fiskbulledag” at Operaverkstan, Malmö Opera.

Julia plays Hansson.

“Irene and Ritva work in the school kitchen. They have different ideas about most things. Irene wants to innovate and give the children pan pizza and soft drinks. Ritva hates change. She has worked in the school kitchen since the beginning of time and wants everything to stay the same. On Mondays, fish balls are served - period.

One day, a mysterious woman named Hansson arrives and starts spying on their work. Irene and Ritva mostly think she's in the way. It turns out that Hansson has been instructed by the headmaster to streamline and cut costs. Surely a small school can manage with one person in the kitchen? Suddenly the daily work becomes a competition. One has to go. Will it be Irene or Ritva?

“Måndag är fiskbulledag” is a quick and entertaining new opera, based on a theater play from 2005 by Anders Duus. The music has swinging jazz influences and is composed by percussionist Lars Ljungberg for piano and vibraphone. Maria Sundqvist is responsible for the libretto.
