Welcome back to Quarantine!
By now, we all know what it is like to be quarantined; to be alone, isolated and just watch the world pass us by. But can we imagine a quarantine that we do not know the end of?
Welcome to the life of Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots.
In her long captivity she contemplates life, occupies herself with her embroidery, kicks off her uncomfortable shoes and relentlessly and furiously writes letters with a fancy quill – all with the fire in her hair and heart in her hand.
We meet her on day 6921 of her political quarantine, where she waits for a letter from her sister and captor, Queen Elizabeth I of England.
A letter containing her fate; whether she shall be executed tomorrow or not.
Quarantine Queen is a monodrama based on the life of Mary, Queen of Scots. It is based on the music of R. Schumann, J. Raff, A. Beach, H. Purcell, J. Playford and B. Martinů, and played in a combination of English, Deutsch and Français.
